Horace Phillips is a freelance drummer, recording artist and music producer.

Known for his versatility and feel on the drums, Horace is active in many of NYC's creative music circles. He has performed at New York venues including Carnegie Hall, Brooklyn Steel, Music Hall of Williamsburg and Barclays Center, and toured extensively in North America with saxophonist Alison Shearer and alt-rock outfit Andy Suzuki & the Method.

A regular in the studio, he has contributed to dozens of projects as performer and  producer, including Alison Shearer's acclaimed View From Above (NPR Staff Picks Top 10 Albums of 2022), Zusha's When the Sea Split (#1 iTunes World Music at debut), and releases by Arya Gaston, Julia Wild, Solapur Road, Goodie, and many others.

In 2020 he released the debut single "Like You Never Do", performing on all instruments and digging deep into his identity as a songwriter and producer. In 2023 he followed up with "Favorite", cementing his style of propulsive, richly harmonic indie-soul.

Rooted in jazz and improvised music, Horace studied with influential drummers including Kendrick Scott, John Riley and Adam Cruz. He holds degrees in music and philosophy from Manhattan School of Music and Princeton University.
